Austin TX isn’t far away at all from where I used to live. I went to school at Texas State University-San Marcos, and I lived in Seguin for 9 years, from 2003-2012. I have been to Austin quite a few times, mostly to go to the mall, once for the airport and once for 6th Street. Whether you hit up 6th Street or not, it certainly is a big draw. Here are some other places of interest in Austin TX.

The Moody Theater is a great place to check out, and it’s located at 310 West 2nd Street. You’ll be in downtown Austin and not too far away from 6th Street and all the fun there, too. When you visit The Moody Theater, you have chosen a great venue to catch a concert. Make sure you look at booking tickets in advance prior to your trip. There are all kinds of events there, including ACL or Austin City Limits TV show tapings.

Zilker Metropolitan Park is over 400 acres, and it’s located at 2100 Barton Springs Road. There is a nice playground area for the kids, and the whole family can enjoy a train ride around the park, too. It’s a miniature train, but the kids will love it for sure. People say a kite festival is held there, and you can play sand volleyball, too. Explore the botanical gardens, rent a kayak and enjoy the walking trails as well at Zilker Metropolitan Park.

The Driskill is a historical site to visit, and it is where Lyndon B Johnson proposed to his wife, Lady Bird Johnson. A landmark in Texas, this older hotel is a must see. There is a cafe and bar on site, and you can of course book a room there if you like. That would be a way to get your lodging in order as well as see one of the wonderful attractions in Austin TX. Either way, try to stop by The Driskill.

The Texas Military Forces Museum is another great place to check out. This museum is located at 2200 West 35th Street, and there is a piece of the Berlin Wall there. You’ll also find artillery pieces and all kinds of war memorabilia.

While you’re in Austin, you should check out the Stevie Ray Vaughn statue, too. That’s just a last minute plug as I close out this article. There is so much to see and do in the capital city of Austin TX.
